Jouanna Eshaghi was my midwife when I gave birth to my first baby girl in August 2021. From the first prenatal meeting in her office up until the postpartum visits at home, she has always shown how caring and genuinely concerned she was with me and baby. I loved that she took her time in asking me important questions when I was pregnant, elaborately explained what I should expect and gave me lots of tips on how to keep a healthy pregnancy especially since this is my first baby. Her knowledge really put me at ease and I never felt rushed every time I would go for my prenatal appointments. On my actual birth, although my initial plan was a ‘Home birth’ and I had to be transferred to the hospital after a few hours, I am grateful that Jouanna still took great care of me at Royal Columbian Hospital and I was happy that the rest of what was written in my birth plan was followed since I specifically requested to have no medical interventions as much as possible. Jouanna kept on reassuring me with positive words during my labor and she gave me choices therefore I felt more in control of my body during the whole process which in turn made it a very positive first-time birth experience. Also, due to her naturally good personality, I felt that she worked very well with my Doula, hence I was very confident that I have chosen the perfect birth team throughout my 27 hours of labor. During my postpartum home visits, she made sure that baby and I were still well taken care of and whenever I had queries she would still be responsive via text or phone calls regarding breastfeeding or other postpartum concerns. If I ever decide to have a 2nd baby, I would definitely call Jouanna again. My husband and I highly recommend her to anyone  who is looking for a trusted Midwife.
I wish Jouanna all the best and I hope she can support other moms too. 🙂
Love,
Katrina “Kate
